Cancellation and no-show policy at Hawaii Nails
Short version: 24 hours notice is the request, not a strict rule. The first miss is always free. Repeated late cancellations (3+ in a quarter) ask for a 50% deposit on the next booking. No-shows beyond that — rare, but real — we ask to switch to walk-in only.
This page exists because we're asked the policy weekly. We'd rather write it down once, plainly.
What we ask
24 hours notice for cancellations. A weekday appointment cancelled the night before lets us offer the slot to a walk-in or a regular waiting for a Saturday. A Saturday morning cancellation made Saturday morning leaves the chair empty — Saturdays before noon are our busiest window and the hardest to backfill.
Call, don't text or message. (801) 252-7002 reaches the front desk during open hours. Voicemail outside hours is checked first thing every morning. Instagram DMs and Facebook messages may take 24+ hours to see; don't rely on them for time-sensitive cancellations.
Same rule, all services. A 30-minute polish change and a 90-minute full dip with art use different chair time, but the policy is the same — we'd rather know early than late, regardless of the booking length.
What we don't do
- No automatic fee for a first or second late cancellation. Life happens. Sick kids, car trouble, work emergencies — we've all been there.
- No double-booking to protect against cancellations. The chair you booked is the chair held for you.
- No public shaming for missed appointments. We track it privately to know when to ask for a deposit, not to call anyone out.
When we do ask for a deposit
If a guest has cancelled within the 24-hour window 3+ times in a single quarter — or no-showed twice — we ask for a 50% pre-pay on the next booking. The pre-pay applies to the service if you show up; it's only forfeit if you no-show or cancel inside the day.
This isn't punitive. It's a sustainability ask. A repeated empty chair on Saturday morning is the difference between a busy weekend and a slow one for the technicians who depend on tips.
Reschedules vs cancellations
A reschedule moves your existing booking to a new date or time. Free, no notice window, just call. We'd rather have you on the books at the right time than chasing the wrong time.
A cancellation removes the booking entirely. That's the one with the 24-hour ask.
If you're unsure whether to reschedule or cancel, default to reschedule. You can always cancel the new date later if your week doesn't resolve.
Walk-ins are always an option
Walk-ins are welcome Monday through Saturday. If you've cancelled an appointment and want to swing by later that week, no booking, no commitment — just show up. Weekday afternoons are easiest. Saturdays before noon, expect a wait.
